Welcome

Welcome to the Johnson County Appraiser's Web site, winner of the 2004 Award of Excellence by NACIO, where we provide you with extended public services. This site works best in Internet Explorer 5.0 or better.  If this is your first visit then please take a moment to learn about the county's appraisal process.

The Appraiser's Office is assigned the task of appraising, or valuing real estate and personal property at fair market value for tax purposes (see our mission below). The County Appraiser does not set, nor collect taxes.  After the Appraiser has valued all property in the county, the information is provided to the Records and Tax Administration.  Once the taxing jurisdictions set the mill levies for taxes and the County Commissioners set the county budget, the County Treasurer is assigned to collect the taxes.

The Appraiser's Web site provides services that allow property owners to view the appraised value of their home or business (and property characteristics) and motor vehicle property tax. This site also provides information on: appealing your appraised value, an online video that explains the appraisal and appeals process, and important dates, deadlines, and forms.

There is also a map with directions to the Appraiser's Office, residential and commercial statistics such as the average appraised value of a home in Johnson County, publications such as the Annual Report, Notes of Value quarterly newsletter, a sign up for our mailing list, recent press releases, information on the County Appraiser, as well as how to contact us and/or provide feedback.
